F1 Visas are temporary visas for students that allow foreign students to study in American high schools, colleges, or universities. These are also available for those who wish to attend English language training the United States.
J1 visas allow the holder to attend college or university exchange programs in the United States. With a J1 visa, students will be able to engage in part-time work in addition to their education. Spouses and unmarried children under 21 years may apply for derivative visas (type J2) to join their spouses/parents in the US. These relatives are entitled to study in the US and also can obtain a work permit. To obtain a J1 visa an applicant must be accepted by a certified secondary school exchange program in the US. Applicants must demonstrate that they have sufficient financial resources for the entire duration of the course (usually 1 year long). J1 visas may be granted several times.
M1 visas are temporary student visas that allow foreign students to study at colleges or American Universities. Foreign students, who wish to attend English language training in the U.S., may also apply for M1 visas.
